I was interested in determining whether or not search trends could be any indication if Kavanaugh would be appointed to the Supreme Court. I wanted to see how search trends differed throughout the states, and how often Kavanaugh was searched once allegions came out against his conduct in high school and college. The fate of the nomination of Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court is still unclear. Even with these scandals emerging, Republicans still hold a small majority in the Senate and may yet be able to push his nomination through the Senate. The fate of Kavanaugh and his accusers largely rests on the actions of a select few Republicans who may vote against him. By looking at these search trends, we are able to recognize interest in Kavanaugh's nomination, but we are not truly able to recognize tendencies of Senators to vote for or against his nomination.
